for the last couple of weeks, emma has had a Very strong opinion on what she does (and does not) want to wear. the outfit she choose this morning though, was, well, quite an outfit.
in case you can't see it all too clearly, here is an account of the ensemble she put together: red tee shirt with chinese dragons all over, black yoga pants, a red corduroy dress she absolutely insisted she wear, red beaded necklace, pink hawaiian flip-flops, and a rhinestone pacifier... i can't wait until she's a teenager.

midnight madness
before...
sometimes, i just can't sleep no matter how hard i try. it was that way last night... dave was out of the house, studying, emma was sleeping, and the house was relatively (i use that word loosely) organized. i could have gone to bed, but instead i kept thinking of fun projects. so i painted emma's rocking chair, which i've been meaning to do for quite some time now. the pictures don't show it well, but it was a strange, grey green color and very scratched up when we acquired it. i wanted something a bit brighter in her room so we went with a turquoise color of sorts. i'm thinking of hand painting a design on it... but only if i have the midnight hour to myself again!
after... a much sunnier shade, don't you think?

last weekend of march
this weekend was a relief from the hot weather we've been having here in san diego. after church (and a party for the porters), our friends invited us to go feed the ducks with them at paradise point. we went to the wild animal park with the girls last week and the ducks seemed to be the biggest hit, so we figured this would be the perfect ending to the weekend. after searching high and low for ducks that even wanted our bread, we found a hungry bunch...
